VDM SPEAKS ON TINUBU’S NEW DEFENCE MINISTER NOMINEE — HIS SECRET MEETING WITH GEN. MUSA

By now you’ve seen the news: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as the new Minister of Defence — the seat vacated after Badaru Abubakar resigned.

To many, it looks like a normal political reshuffling. But to VDM, it brought back a deeply personal memory that shaped his understanding of leadership.

Let’s go back.

On June 13th, 2025, over 200 people were slaughtered in Yelwata, Benue State. Burned alive. Children. Women. Entire families. The media ignored it, so on June 15th, VDM went there himself.

The video he posted went viral instantly — over 50,000 comments in hours — forcing the Federal Government, police, and military to finally pay attention to Benue.

Then on June 17th, Gen. Christopher Musa appeared on Channels TV. His response hurt VDM deeply. Out of anger and pain, VDM blasted him publicly.

Two days later — June 19th — the army was looking for him.

He panicked, but he went.

They drove him to the Asokoro military base. When the door opened, the man who stood in front of him was the same General Christopher Musa he had criticised online.

Musa asked everyone to leave the room.

Then he said something VDM never expected:

“VeryDarkMan… I need your help.”

Instead of ego, anger, or authority — he showed humility. He told VDM:

“You were the first person to reach Yelwata with a camera. Tell me everything you saw. Every detail you gathered.”

VDM explained everything: the videos, conversations with Fulanis, counter-attack plans, histories behind the conflict, intelligence from the bush — all of it.

Musa took notes. He listened. He insisted VDM keep sending updates.

The photo shared today — taken on June 20th, 2025 — came from that classified meeting. VDM never posted it. Not once.

That is why VDM feels differently about Musa’s nomination.

He has seen who the man is behind closed doors:

If he gets the position, VDM believes he will bring real value. If he doesn’t, life goes on — but he hopes he does.

This is not clout. If it were clout, the photo and meeting would have gone public last year.

VDM simply hopes Nigeria chooses the right man — and benefits from it.
